Homemade Wind Turbine – Home Made Energy

The parts required are nothing unusual. You can easily find any of the parts you need to buy, and there are some things you might already have on hand. Apart from things like bolts and wire, all wind turbines need rotor blades, a generator, and sheet metal to mount the unit on.

The blades and rotor assembly form the backbone of the turbine. The power generated by a turbine results from the rotation of the blades. With the right instructions, you can build the rotor blades yourself with PVC pipe. This doesn’t require professional-level mechanical skills, either.

A suitable generator is the next requirement. Generators come in a variety of shapes and sizes; it’s even possible to use an old motor from another type of appliance for this purpose. Any motor that can produce electricity when rotated can be used.

The shaft from the rotor must be connected to the shaft on the generator. Then, all you need to do is mount the rotor and blades on one end of a platform. For the greatest amount of free energy possible, mount the wind turbine in the best available place in terms of wind velocity and consistency.
