Since wind is generated more effectively in a clear area, it is recommended to have the tower built 10-20 feet above any obstructions that are within 200-400 feet. Many old, recycled TV towers that are recycled are perfect for this situation as they are cheap and a great size.

When your main parts have been built you will of course have to decide on batteries for your generator. This is very important as it will be converting the energy you create to be used inside of your home.

The batteries will need to be easily accessed and monitored by a gauge which measures electrical currents. Most systems require 4-8 standard batteries and a large diameter wire to connect to the wind generator for a more efficient connection.
